About the Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award
In the early 1900s, a young school teacher left Philadelphia and moved to a town
on the city’s “Main Line” to launch one of the nation’s first private schools for
children with special needs.
As an entrepreneur, she fought through many barriers
of her time, thus helping to lead the way for future generations of professional
women. Through personal sacrifice, innovation and unrelenting resolve, her small
business grew – and, today, is one of the largest non-profit providers of behavioral
healthcare in the nation.
The providers for this prestigious award will be senior level executives. Nominees
are women who have achieved exemplary professional and personal
accomplishments and have significantly, ethically and memorably
impacted the area better known as the Greater Main Line.
